Position: Finance Manager

About the Role

Role Purpose
We are seeking an experienced individual to manage SR&ED and other government incentives. This position
reports directly to the Finance Director and will support the financial and accounting activities of the company
including management of financial systems, reporting to all obligatory stakeholders, initiating the continuous
improvement of the company’s financial standing, and other accounting related activities.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities
• SR&ED and governments incentives
o Plan, organize and submit SR&ED claims according to government criteria
o Coordinate internal meetings, data and analysis to ensure timely submission of annual SR&ED
o Collect, organize and facilitate the writing of detailed technical documents from data provided by
team members including the completion of appropriate forms
o Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure processes are automated to ensure accurate
collection of data
o Develop and craft technical, narrative and financial components for SR&ED claims and other
o Consult with external advisors, tax and technology SMEs to prepare Dalriada’s annual SR&ED
o Sufficiently understand the claim process to ensure process is clean and efficient
o Provide support in the case of claim reviews and audits
• Project Accounting
o Accountable for monitoring the progress of projects, investigating variances, and ensuring that
project billings are issued to customers and, payments collected
o Maintain project-related records, including contracts and change orders
o Obtain billing consent and calculate due amounts in coordination with the project leads
o Research and resolve any invoices rejected or in dispute
o Invoice clients for all out-of-pocket costs that are incurred in a timely manner
o Calculate and book revenue based on a project-based revenue recognition policy
o Track all costs in the cost-to-date spreadsheets
o Highlight and notify the Finance Director for any areas of concern in the cost-to-date
spreadsheets such as:
▪ Jobs that appear to be over or under in hours
▪ OOP costs coming in higher than approved in the estimates
▪ Work being done on jobs where there is not a signed PO
▪ Investigate all project expenses not billed to customers
o Respond to requests for more detail from customers
o Close out project accounts upon project completion
• Month End Duties
o Ensure all billing is done before month-end close
o Calculate and book revenue (per revenue recognition policy)
o Maintain and enter journal entries and accruals
• Other Duties
o Other duties as assigned / required

Education, Knowledge, Experience & Technical Skills
• Must have a strong understanding of SR&ED program (criteria, regulations, and processes) and SR&ED
tax legislation developments to communicate this knowledge to internal stakeholders
• Ability to produce timely, accurate SR&ED claims that result in profitable returns
• Proven excellence in preparing for and defending financial reviews and audits with CRA
• 5 years of experience preparing SR&ED tax credit claims or working for the CRA auditing SR&ED tax
credit claims, or technical writing
• Bachelor's Degree -- Engineering or Science (B. Eng, BSc, B.A.Sc) or Accounting
• Chartered Accountant, Certified General Accountant, or Certified Management Accountant designation
or working towards a designation
• Hands on experience with QuickBooks Enterprise or similar financial accounting and reporting systems
