Position: Scientist, Biochemistry/Biophysics

Reporting to: Director, Biology and Biophysics

Employment term: 1-year Contract with possibility of renewal

About the Role

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

· Provides GPCR receptor biology and protein biochemistry expertise to support Dalriada’s drug discovery programs

· Designs, Develops, validates, and executes robust assays to facilitate compound screening, and in vitro characterization of GPCR drug candidates

· Troubleshoots and develops technical solutions to optimize experiments for robust data output

· Trains and supervises junior team members

· Monitors, reviews, and critically interprets published research to support experimental efforts

· Carefully documents research workflows, data, and protocols

· Maintains lab notebooks and documents the experimental results in database

· Prepares data summaries and reports to communicate project status among diverse audiences such as project teams and executive boards

Education& Certifications

· PhD in Biochemistry, Biophysics, pharmacology, or related discipline with relevant associated publications

· Post-graduate lab experience in drug discovery settings is desirable but not necessary

Knowledge, Experience & Technical Skills

· Deep knowledge and demonstrated track record in Pharmacology of GPCRs

· Experience in design and execution of plate-based assays and screening and/or characterizing therapeutics targeting GPCRs is a must. Experience with radioligand binding assays is a plus

· Previous experience in small molecule drug discovery

· Full understanding and hands-on experience in development, optimization, and execution of biochemical and biophysical assays techniques for other target classes is highly desirable

· Knowledge and experience in design and generation of the cell lines expressing GPCRs is highly desirable. Familiarity with overexpression, and purification of recombinant protein constructs from E. coli, insect cell and/or mammalian expression systems is an asset.

· Proficient in relevant programs for data analysis and visualization, e.g., GraphPad Prism, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word
