Position: Scientist, Proteomics

Reporting to: Director, Biology and Biophysics

Employment term: 1-year Contract with possibility of renewal

About the Role

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

· Provide mass spectrometry and proteomics expertise to support Dalriada’s drug discovery programs

· Execute discovery and targeted proteomic assays to facilitate compound screening, identify protein targets, elucidate mechanism of action, and support medicinal chemistry efforts

· Use, maintain, and troubleshoot high-resolution mass spectrometers (Orbitrap and TOF), and nanoLC instruments

· Design and conduct proteomic experiments (including experimental design, data collection, interpretation, and presentation)

· Develop and conduct mass spectrometry methods for structural characterization of intact and digested proteins

· Troubleshoot and develop technical solutions to optimize experiments for robust data output

· Train and supervise junior team members

· Monitor, review, and critically interpret published research to support experimental efforts

· Carefully document research workflows, data, and protocols

· Maintain lab notebooks and document the experimental results in database

· Prepare data summaries and reports to communicate project status among diverse audiences such as project teams and executive boards

Education& Certifications

· PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, or related disciplines

· Post-graduate lab experience in drug discovery settings is desirable but not necessary

Knowledge, Experience & Technical Skills

· Deep knowledge and demonstrated track record in proteomics and protein biochemistry in various therapeutic areas

· Experience in operating orbitrap and TOF mass spectrometers

· Experience in proteomics sample preparation (proteolytic digestion, pull-down methods, solid-phase extraction, probe labelling, etc.)

· Diverse experience in discovery proteomics (label-free, DIA, SILAC, TMT), and targeted proteomics (SRM, PRM) is highly desired

· Experience with open-source and vendor-specific proteomic software (e.g., PEAKS, Proteome Discoverer, MaxQuant, MS Fragger, Progenesis, etc.)

· Experience with covalent drugs and covalent proteomics is a definite asset

· A working knowledge of statistics, and experience in scripting language (e.g., R, Python) is highly desired

· Proficient in relevant programs for data analysis and visualization, e.g., GraphPad Prism, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word
